Mercedes-Benz A-Class Concept 2011 – First Look
Concept A-Class is a car with a very fresh and modern design, part of the new generation.
As you will see in the movie below, the new A-Class model features a distinct interior design with metallic powder coated fabrics (used for the first time), daytime running lamps consist of 90 optical fibers surrounded by metal sleeves, the main lamps relying on LEDs and the shape of the air vents in the dashboard is reminiscent of a jet aircraft. The dashboard itself has the shape of an aircraft wing, a theme followed throughout the interior. The center console is designed as a modern flight control panel, with the shift lever presented as a “reverse thrust control.”
The 2011 concept A-class is powered by a new BlueEfficiency 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine making 210 horsepower. It is turbocharged and direct-injected and works with a dual-clutch gearbox.
Of course Mercedes is also improving security measurements so this new model features a radar-guided collision avoidance system. “This assistance system,” says the Mercedes release, “gives a visual and acoustic warning to an inattentive driver and prepares Brake Assist for a precise braking response. Braking is initiated as soon as the driver forcefully operates the brake pedal.”
More… to be discovered soon as Mercedes Benz is introducing this new A-class model at the New York Auto Show and simultaneously announcing it at the Shanghai Motor Show, as well.
